Access Tax - Connect your data to Access Evo

To use Access Accountants Evo, you need to connect your Tax data to Access Accountants Evo. The Practice Administrator must complete the steps listed below.

  • Set up the connection in Access Tax.

  • Authorise the connection in Access Accountants Evo.

  • Authenticate the connection.

Before proceeding, please close all other browsers and windows.

Set up the connection

  1. Log in to Access Tax and click the Practice Settings (cog) icon.

  2. In the General tab, note down your;

    • Software ID

    • Customer ID

    • Customer Reference.

  3. Click the Integration tab.

  4. Under API Client Application drop-down menu, select Access Data Engine, then click Generate Key.

  5. An information window will appear advising you to copy the keys and store them securely. Click Yes.

  6. The software will generate an API Key and a Secret Key.

  7. Use Ctrl+C to copy and then Ctrl+V to paste both keys to a secure location, e.g. Notepad or Word, as you will need these later.

Note: The Secret Key will be hashed when you leave this screen and cannot be retrieved later. You will need to repeat the process if the key is not recorded or is misplaced.

Authorise the connection

  1. Click the Access Button, then under Products, click Data Engine.

  2. Click the menu icon, then select Connections, then select Shared.

  3. Locate A - aba - Connection - Access Tax API - |13210| and click Properties.

  4. Update the |13210| with the Customer ID noted earlier.

  5. Update the description field with the Software ID, Customer ID and Customer Reference.

  6. Click the Authentication menu and enter:

    • API Key in the Client ID field.

    • Secret Key in the Client Secret field.

  7. Click Save.

Authenticate the connection

  1. Click the Access Button, then under Products, click Data Engine.

  2. Click the menu icon, then select Connections, then select Shared.

  3. Locate A - aba - Connection - Access Tax API - |13210| and click Properties.

  4. Click on the Authentication menu.

  5. Click the refresh button next to Connected User.

  6. A new browser tab will open, taking you to the Access Tax login.

  7. Once logged in, you will be prompted to allow access. Click Allow.

  8. You will be returned to the Data Engine screen showing the connection.

  9. Take back control of the session.

  10. Click on the Test menu option, then click Start Test.

  11. When the test completes successfully, click Save.

  12. You can stop sharing your screen.

Connection successfully authenticated. The Access Tax ADE integration is now active.
