Access Tax - Depreciation type codes in Access Tax

The depreciation worksheet records depreciation details for an asset and supports several depreciation methods and write-off types.

Depreciation worksheet type codes

Select the appropriate type code for the asset:

  • D – Diminishing value.

  • E – Diminishing value for assets acquired before 10 May 2006.

  • P – Prime cost.

  • S – Special building write-off. This option applies only when transferring amounts to a rental property statement.

  • W – Write-off.

Complete depreciation details

For standard depreciation calculations:

  1. Open the depreciation worksheet.

  2. Select the appropriate type code.

  3. Complete the remaining asset details as required.

No further depreciation-specific information is required for standard depreciation calculations.

Complete disposals or manual calculations

Continue entering additional worksheet information only if:

  • The asset has been disposed of, or

  • You need to perform a manual depreciation calculation.

In these situations, complete the remaining worksheet fields as required to calculate the correct depreciation outcome.
